Charlotte, NC - The National Association of Police Athletic/Activities Leagues (National PAL) announced today that Jeff Hood has been named as its new Executive Director. Hood, who has served as Interim Executive Director for National PAL since June 2017, has been involved with youth-related causes for more than 30 years.

“The National PAL Board of Directors is thrilled to welcome Jeff Hood as Executive Director of National PAL,” said Barbara    Bonilla, President of the National PAL Board of Directors. “With his proven record of leadership, professional experience working with nonprofits, PAL programs, and his time as interim Executive Director, we could not ask for a better candidate than Jeff to lead National PAL into the future. His guidance and knowledge are vital to National PAL as we continue to grow and innovate.”

Hood first joined PAL in March 2009, serving as the Executive Director for the Charlotte Mecklenburg PAL chapter in North Carolina. Before joining PAL, Hood served as Co-Founder and Executive Director for Athletes United for Youth (formerly Dell Curry Charity for Youth), since its inception in 1998. Previously, he served as Director of Adolescent Services at the McLeod Addictive Disease Center, where he was instrumental in developing youth-centered programs, including a youth wilderness camp.

In 2010, Hood founded the Hoodie’s House of Hope for Youth Foundation to pay tribute to his mother, Doris “Hoodie” Hood. The Foundation supports programs addressing youth homelessness, hunger, education, leadership development, mentoring, and afterschool programming in North Carolina, Missouri, New York, and Haiti.

“I’m incredibly excited to help drive National PAL into the future as we continue putting the community in community oriented policing,” said Hood of his new appointment. “Now more than ever it’s important to engage our youth and bridge the divide between cops and the community, and I look forward to implementing programs and opportunities to help youth make the right decisions to excel their future.”

Hood, a native of Queens, New York, is a graduate of North Carolina Wesleyan College.
